Welcome to the University Archives and Special Collections Database
Search Tips:
  • The search engine looks for records containing every term you submit.
  • The search engine looks for records within descriptions of collections.
  • To look for phrases, use double quotes around your search terms. (e.g. “Coastal Educational Foundation”)
  • Browse by name, subject, campus unit, or title.
  • Use a minus sign before a search term you want to omit from your results (e.g. “bass –fish” finds bass guitars but not bass fishing.)
The database contains descriptive finding aids and electronic resources of materials in the archives. Finding aids are descriptive tools that outline the arrangement of a collection, provide context for the materials, and assist with access to the collection. Materials are arranged according to the principle of provenance (files from one creating office or person are not mixed with those from another). Some collections have limited information available in the database.

Archival materials are usually unpublished, unique, and described in the aggregate. This means materials in the collections are not listed at the item level but rather at the folder, series, or collection level. “Campus units” are record groups that reflect the university’s organization and indicate related university collections. Published materials maintained in the archives and special collections department are listed in Kimbel Library’s catalog.
